In addition to the workplace, schools, malls, parks, airports, golf courses, and other public locations, AEDs should also be included and placed in areas of heavy traffic. The location and placement of your AED should be both secure and accessible to professionals as well as ordinary citizens. It also may be a good idea to have an emergency phone installed close to the device. Even with the prevalent use of cell phones in today’s society, having an emergency land line can be helpful during an emergency. According to the American Heart Association, “AEDs should be placed in locations where care can be administered in a timely manner”. A rescuer should be able to reach the potential victim in under 3-minutes.
