A laboratory centrifuge is a device that is used to separate mixtures using centripetal force. The machine will spin test tubes at high speeds to separate suspended solids from liquid. It can be used for many different applications in the lab. For instance blood can be put into a centrifuge and spun. The spinning causes any solid particles that are denser than liquid to separate and sink to the bottom of a test tube under the force of gravity. So at the end of the cycle you’ll have a neatly sorted vial of blood and plasma.
