There are currently 65 scalpel blade shapes (sizes) and 27 different types of handles. They're not all used for medical purposes. They can be used by dentists, chiropodists, veterinary surgeons and a host of professionals in the arts and crafts industry. Mostly all of the scalpels you'll find are made of stainless steal.

Types of Scalpel Blades

Scalpels have a unique and sometimes confusing system of fitting the blade to the handle. Choosing a disposable scalpel can alleviate some of these concerns. Here are some of the current scalpel blade options. Most are sold in quantities of 25 to 100. Remember not all scalpel blades are sterilized.
