What is Kevlar?

Kevlar®, invented in 1965 by the Dupont Company, is a strong, durable material that was first created as a replacement for steel in radial tires. It has since been used in a variety of industrial applications. Here are a few of the key attributes that Kevlar provides:

  • Low Weight
  • High Strength
  • Low Electrical Conductivity
  • High Chemical Resistance
  • Low Thermal Shrinking
  • High Cut Resistance
  • Heat & Flame Resistant
  • Self-Extinguishing

Because of these attributes Kevlar is often seen as one of the most revolutionary inventions of the 20th Century.
