Question:

How long should my wheelchair ramp be?

Answer:

Determining ramp length

Establish the incline that your chair is designed to climb. Take a look at your owners manual for exact recommendations. Measure the distance in inches from the top of the elevation you are trying to negotiate to the ground. This is the rise. The suggested length of the ramp you will need will be the top column. The numbers represent a suggested length. You may need more or less depending on the situation.

*** The Americans with Disabilities Act standards suggests 1 foot of ramp for every 1 inch of vertical rise.
